3D PRINTER

3D printing uses specialised equipment to create solid, three-dimensional objects from a digital file. The field of 3D printing is a fast-growing area which holds countless possibilities for our customers.

LASER FIBRE MAKER

Laser fibre markers use fibre laser technology to mark surfaces with the ability to create intricate works of art. They can be used on a wide range of materials, but are particularly effective when used for metal engraving, as their high power makes them perfect for engraving.

LASER CUTTING MACHINE

Laser cutting machines use a laser to cut or engrave materials including Steel and Aluminium. The material is vaporised or burned by the laser beam, leaving a clean, precise cut.

Staff morale

• We hold regular fish and chip lunches.
• We have regular team building days and are currently planning an escape room event.

• We have an ‘ideas book’, where we welcome anyone who has a suggestion for how we can improve our processes, working environment etc. to record it, and if we use their idea, they receive a cash reward.

Work Environment

• We have recently created a bespoke boardroom so that we are able to hold meetings, display our products and have a private workspace where people can go for one 2 one meetings.

• We always encourage people to get involved in changes. When we took over the factory next door, colleagues contributed to deciding where the “hole” should be knocked through, where machinery should go etc. helping everyone to feel happy in their environment.

Sustainability

We have been looking at ways production can do things more sustainably. One of our latest projects involved producing posters showing the history of a local town called Nailsea.

We applied a resin coating which protects them from UV rays and all the weather elements. This means they won’t need replacing as they will last longer in your typical English weather.

Polycrown has continued to expand throughout the pandemic. We have doubled in size by taking on the factory next door and knocking through the wall which has given us more office and factory space.

To support this expansion, we have taken on a new member of staff and we would like to introduce our latest team member, Steve Wheelock. Steve joined us in September 2021 and is a real asset to the Polycrown team. We hope you’ll join us in giving him a warm welcome.

After 7 months on maternity leave, we would like to welcome back Sabine, our office administrator.

It is great to have her smiley face back in the office.

A message from our Managing Director, Phil Richardson

We are all chartering unnavigated waters and it’s a challenging time for all of us, not only in business but with everyone personally as well. We have implemented changes to our operations to minimise the spread of COVID-19, which includes cancelling or postponing in house events, moving face to face meetings to virtual meetings and staff working from home.
We are constantly improving our bespoke production system to enable us to submit faster quotations and information to all our clients. It is more important than ever during these challenging times that we communicate with our clients to supply the best service possible.

Here at Polycrown we really care about the impact we are all having on the environment, and are always looking for ways we can be greener. Keep an eye out for our next newsletter in March to hear more about the steps we are taking in 2022 to improve our carbon footprint further!

Coronavirus Update

To our valued customers

We hope you and your families are well.

As you all know, from the 26th March Polycrown stopped full production in the factory due to the Coronavirus. We felt this was the right thing to do to ensure all employees and their families were kept safe.

However, with careful planning and organisation we have been, and will continue to be able to produce orders for customers.

We came to the decision to start production again on a smaller scale as we are producing work for two of our customers who supply the NHS. This means that, under a strict safety policy and following the Government guidelines, we are running shifts to enable production.

We will keep you up to date with our situation and inform you straight away if anything changes.

In order to enhance the reputation of Polycrown to our customers and increase the supply chain capabilities, we have doubled the factory and office space by acquiring the factory next door. This has enabled us to expand our machinery as well as the number of employees.

More machinery to keep your jobs moving

A new wide format digital press has been purchased which allows a lot more flexibility on multiple services and substrates.

This means we are able to double our capacity and deliver the finished products to you in a quicker time frame, whilst providing you with more print solutions.

Plus...

Two new screen presses, plus dryers will be installed during the first quarter of this year, which drives our production capabilities to meet the demands of our customers.

Polycrown has added a mezzanine floor to gain more space ready for the big changes that are going to take place here at our premises in Yatton.

The expansion and rearrangement of the factory floor is part of a two-year plan that incorporates new machinery and enhances the workflow through the factory.

The completion of the project will allow Polycrown to double the size of the factory for immediate and future growth ensuring future proofing and sustainability, which will result in optimising output and increased satisfaction to our customers.

New digital press & book binding installations

We have installed a Konica digital press which produces high quality printing with a vastly increased output. This enables us to deliver your projects in a shorter timeframe to meet the demands of your business.

The Konica will be producing everything from business stationery, brochures, 6pp A4 leaflets to a variety of labels.

We have also installed a book binding machine to assist the digital press and speed up production.

The installation of the digital press increases Polycrown’s range of printing services we can offer to our clients. To our customers this means we can meet increased demands whilst maintaining the high standards of finish. If you have any digital print projects that would normally be placed with another supplier, we would be happy to supply competitive quotations and work toward becoming your preferred supplier.

Polycrowns Production and Tracking System

By building a bespoke production system to fit Polycrowns needs has allowed everyone in the company to not only have everything transparent within the Polycrown team, but to also have the ability to answer questions from our customers quickly and effectively.

No more production meetings are required.

Before we had the system, we held a production meeting daily to make sure everyone knew what was required from them. Having the new tracking system has allowed every department to visually see all the jobs going through the company and easily identify what is required from them on a daily basis - even when urgent changes have to be made.  The new tracking system has been developed over the past three years. As it is a web-based system, I am able to see everything outside of working hours or if I am out of the factory on business.
